Rep Points Question

Click on the USER CP button and it will list out who gave you good rep points...
 
Seems to be like the ratings at ebay except any halfwit can ding you without fear of being found out. Doesn't seem quite right does it?

Thing is, decent people sign their reps (they do when they give me rep points most of the time) and the zitty teenagers who just spam- (like the bright chap who figured that "europe sucks dick" - don't, but nobody really cares about them anyway so why bother :D If rep bugs you just don't look at it, there are too many stupid people out there to lose any sleep over them y'know :)
 
The whole idea is not to let the dorks retaliate when someone gives them a negative rating. If you think somebody is abusing the system you can post here and we'll look into it.
 
P.S. Don't get upset over one or two negative comments. Nobody can see the comments but you (and the moderators, but only if we look and we don't unless you ask us to). All the other members can see is your overall rating.
 
LOL, have a look at mine (the smartass comment) and have a word with the kid who posted it. I don't know who it was and don't even want to know but somebody must use the stick since his father was obviously sparing it waaaaay too much, and you're the guy to do it here :)

Which "smartass comment, faramir"? I see several that some people might consider "smartass" but so what? All anyone but you can see is you have an overall positive rating. What's to get upset about? Somebody could have emailed you those comments (anonymously if he wanted to) or they could have posted them -- they didn't; they sent them as comments instead....

That seems pretty typical of the complaints about the system I've seen so far. Somebody gets one or two negative ratings or a comment or two that he considers insulting, and although faramir doesn't seem to be too bent out of shape over it, some other people have been all upset....

If the rating system has any meaning at all it's in your overall rating. If the comments mean anything ... I don't know, seems to me if you get one or two negative comments once in a while that probably means your posts are not so boring that no one reads them. If you start getting a lot of negative comments, or if you get several from one post, that might be some food for thought....

The one i mentioned further up in this thread - i don't recall any others even close to that one. I mean, if i was to post something like that, substituting Europe with US for example, you guys would shoot me down in flames (and rightfully so). What's the point of applying (ethical) standards if they're only valid under certain circumstances and not all the time ? :)

Honestly, i couldn't care less about the negative replies made by anonymous people - it's the lack of manners of that one kid that bugs me.

I did get lots of rep from one (W&C) post - good and bad :D It was a joke thread which just goes to show the level of intelligence of some people. Most readers found it humorous (as they well should since it was intended as humor), except for that trolling punk kid.
