I’ve had a Cold Steel Panga machete for nearly 20 years. I’ve used it for a lot of work and entertainment. I’ve thrown it, cut kindling, trimmed trees and bushes, rebeveled the edge at least twice, and sharpened it many times. I finally over taxed it and rippled the edge badly after thinning it too much during the last rebevel. My question is should I repair it and keep using it or make a smaller knife out of it? It would make a good kitchen or shop knife. It’s geometry is too thin for a 16” blade, but would be fine for a 5-7 inch blade. Repair would require filing out the dents in the edge, thereby thickening it, and then resharpening it.
