I have a uncle henry knife sch285 the spring-lock is broken and I was considering trying silver soldering it back together. But if there is spring repair kit available I'd rather do that. Also the access to the spring mounting holes I'm assuming are just the visible brass pins.

Would anyone that knows about this knife please RSVP about where to buy the repair parts. Thank you

I don't know what exactly that knife is, but Google search tells me it's a Schrade traditional. Those are cheap enough that you could just go out and buy a replacement - in my opinion it's not worth the hassle. If you insist on a repair, I can't help with the tools to do it yourself, but you can try to contact Schrade and ask if you can send it in for them to fix.

You cannot "repair" a spring. When a spring breaks it's usually due to a flaw. You have to replace or make a new one. Springs are heat treated to allow flexibility. Welding is the only true way to reattach a broken piece, and welding destroys the heat treat of a spring.

You can have that Uncle Henry repaired, but it will cost more than buying a new knife.

Back when Uncle Henry knives were American made they came with a lifetime warranty. They would replace the knife if broken (or even if lost). Unfortunately that's not true any more.

US Schrade used carbon steel springs on the Uncle Henry knives, even though the blades were stainless. So the spring may have failed due to rust.

You can't fix a broken spring. You would need to completely disassemble the knife and replace the spring.. And at this point, you would need to have someone custom make a spring. That would be extremely expensive. Your options would be to purchase a China-made new Schrade, or seek a used knife at a pawn shop or a large auction web site.
