Repaired or not repaired?

I purchased an axe head about ten years ago and had no luck researching its history. I'm giving it another try after rediscovering it while cleaning recently. I've always wanted to know how and when it was manufactured ...so I'm giving it another try. Was the axe repaired or did the maker add the rivets to make it stronger? It is a single blade axe with aunt jemima bottle shape. The section above and below the eye are rounded not sharp pointed. The axe weights 4.2lb and it's 9.5" long. The blade is about 5.5" from tip to tip. The axe appears to have been wraped and fastened at the blade area. On the top and bottom are cracks that run from the eye toward the blade. About half way between the eye and blade on the blade are three rivets or brads. On one side near the butt it's marked "camp " and it has star mark next to the rivets on the same side. I would really appreciate any information you could provide. I have clear photos but not sure how to link them to the forum.

I may have a vague idea of what you're talking about, but not sure. Someone will know something here, but we're gonna need those pics. Try using photobucket to host your images.

I have photos on photobucketdotcom listed under user name gapackrat. I haven't learned how to list the photos on this forum yet. I'm new to forums. On a smaller forum I was told the axe was a pre-1860 broadaxe that was most likely repaired as the forged weld began to separate. He also said it seemed to have a steeled poll.

If you have images up on the web then you can link to them using UBB code.
