Good morning,
I’ve been a long time reader, and I’m certain someone can help me. I have been long carrying a CRKT - M16®- 14ZER EMERGENCY RESCUE Knife .
https://www.crkt.com/collection/m-1...tanto-large-with-triple-point-serrations.html

It’s been an excellent knife for daily use. And since I have problems with my hands, the size and one handed opening is perfect for me.
Anyways, the screws that hold the pocket clip have become stripped , making the clip loose.
What would work best to secure the screws? A permanent fix is fine, as I don’t believe it affects disassembly, and the clip is in the proper place for my use. I’m just not sure what will adhere to the handle material best.
Thanks in advance for your time,
Ken

With some of my thicker handled knives (not that yours is) I just carry it in a belt pouch.
An ammo clip pouch works well for a wide variety of knives.
Easy "fix".
Other than that you could get the next size tap (for cutting larger diameter threads in the holes) and tap the holes and use the larger / correct size screws.
That is what I would do if I still wanted a clip on the knife.

Or you could send it to one of the Pros here and have them do that for you.

You can buy the torx screws on the big river and more than likely the tap as well.
You just need to investigate what is a little bigger than what you have in there now.
You won't need to drill the hole just run the larger tap through it.
Here are some torx screws I bought for rehandeling my knife.

Thanks for the suggestions. I don’t wear a belt most of the time, so I need to keep the pocket clip. My only concern with using larger screws is : Will it just happen again? The screws loosened simply from carrying it, not over tightening. I was thinking about an epoxy of some sort, but not sure what to use.
Thanks,
Ken.

The pouch has a clip.
Clip it to the band of your pants.

As far as the screws go I just never have problems with screws loosening and I don't loctite them in. Nearly all of my pocket clips have been removed when I got the knives so I could open the clips up some to work with winter weight pants.

Sure red loctite will keep the screws in place provided :
  • The screws fit the holes / threads properly (and are not stripped out) Loctite won't make up for damaged metal components. Loctite depends on a close fit up because it is an anaerobic adhesive.
  • You degrease the components before assembly with the appropriate "primer".
  • You get the screws tight enough to start with.
  • You don't catch your knife clip on a seat belt (or other booty trap) and tear the screws out of the liners.
  • You turn around three times clock wise and then say please and thank you before applying the loctite

Well maybe not ALL of those but most.

I was thinking about an epoxy of some sort, but not sure what to use.
You could use J. B. Weld.
Doesn't matter much; the keys to using epoxy are :
  • Super clean surfaces
  • Roughen texture of the parts (good luck on these small screws)
  • I can't emphasise this enough : mix the two components of the epoxy together, mix them some more, then really start to get serious and mix them a lot.
  • The parts and the place you work need to be at least 70° F or higher.
