Repairing snap closure on sheath

I messed up the male end of a snap closure on a sheath for a fixed blade knife (Randall Model 1 if you have to know). The male end is attached to the main part of the sheath, not the strap.

I was using a pair of pliers to pinch the sides and deform it "a little" to make it harder to open. It gave and I ended up with a crushed side. DOH!!!

I sent it back to Randall and they said that they couldn't do anything to repair it without taking the whole sheath apart to access the back side of the male end of the snap. And since they sent it back to me without doing it, I guess they don't want to! (However, they did add a very simple and ingenious handle holder using 3 holes and some nylon cord . . .). You can slide something behind the snap, but nothing that is much thicker/bigger than the blade.

Anyway, is there a way to repair/replace this? Does anyone know someone who can do it?

Thanks in advance,

Bernie

I make my own sheaths & I think that I know what you are saying. I could explain how I would tackle this but it would be lengthy & prob. confusing. I would recommend that you take it to a "Tandy" leather shop or a shoe repair guy. I think that they would be able to help you out....Good luck!

Hey I have some stuff to replace the snaps and I know how to remove a snap thats bad. I even have acess to "pull the dot" snaps to improve retention of your knife. I might even have acess to a sewing machine that can sew through quarters with real heavy duty thread. Email me if interested. I can probably work this out.
