I had to stop by CRK today to pick up some parts (clip, screws, etc) to fix my brothers 'benza...While I was waiting for the parts, I was pokin around the kitchen knives...the knife block more specifically..Pulling out the lower (6.5)Sikayo to admire the aesthetics. I have really been considering one of the two but I wanted to handle them before I emptied my pockets.. The 6.5 is a nice size...But which one do I want more? I put the 6.5 back in the block and pulled out the 9...Uhh..This Sikayo doesn't look like the pics I have seen! This one is a serrated bread knife! I would not want you to conjure images of the traditional serrations because that is not what these are..I have to say it is rather wicked! That is just great CRK...I know have 3 kitchen knives (bread knife not available yet) and a Ti-lock, on my list of future purchases

Any idea when the Bread / Paring knives are coming out? Better yet the knife block? :D

Don't leave us in the dark, spill!

I believe the answer I got was soon and she might have mentioned a date..but to be perfectly honest..I was enthralled in the beauty of the serrated Sikayo and everything else was..ahem...background noise. (no offense to the young lady who was helping me, but lets be fair..I think I made her laugh with the surprise on my face when I pulled the bread knife from its lair)
I did not see a paring knife at all..That is not to say they don't exist..Just was not part of the knife block display. While the block was nice, I am not sure that it was part of the eye candy that was available for purchase.

The one thing I really miss is a bread knife and a block.

I can do without a paring knife, but one thing to note is when pincer cutting (say like peeling an apple) the grind and the asymmetric handle gets in the way. Holding a right handed knife upside-down in your right hand will do that I guess. If the paring knife was double ground with an ambi handle I think it would be better, though it could also be my clumsiness with using a 9" knife to peel kiwi.... :)

I think I agree...A smaller kitchen knife would be really nice..While some have small sebbies and mnandis to take care of the light work, such as peeling a kiwi..I do not..Not anymore..I have a few CRK one piece knives and an Umnumzaan. I think that it would be nice to see a paring knife with a similar blade profile to the Mnandi..But who knows...Maybe we will see some new offerings soon.

I for one want a kitchen knife from CRK in the 3-4" range to act as a paring style knife for small food prep. It would only make sence to have a smaller one. I know a mnandi or sebenza would do, but I want a dedicated kitchen knife to compliment the others crk came out with. Maybe if enough people ask for one, Chris will listen. I do agree it would have to have be ground on both sides. I still would like to get the 6.5" version, but still want a smaller one.

I am glad I dont live right by crk, I would probably end up divorced.....lol.

Whilst I envy your proximity to the "shop", I feel that if I lived anywhere near Boise, I would end up divorced and living under a bridge fondling a pile of CR knives.

That little side trip to pick up some "parts" is really going to cost you my friend.

I wanna get a Ti-Lock, but am going to pass on the plain one and wait for Plaza to have a Dog Paws One. I emailed Dan and he said they should have them either around or after the holidays. Puppy Paw Ti-Lock......sounds awsome !!!
