Hi everybody,

One problem and one possible job opportunity. Problem: I made my knives recurves by being an idiot with the WorkSharp Knife&Tool Sharpener. How do I fix this? Opportunity: looking for custom scales, possibly wood or micarta, for my GI Tanto. Any help is appreciated!

What were the blade shapes originally? Do you have any pictures of these knives? That would help give some idea of how much of a recurve needs to be taken out. The recurve developed by either spending more time in that area of the blade or pressing harder. Is this spot where you drop the blade on to the belt when you begin sharpening?

To remove it, you are going to have to take off steel on either side of the recurve. This can be done on the WS, but is going to take some focus and a steady hand. Another option would be to use a flat sharpening stone and the DMT alignment tool. That would give you more precision to keep the blade flat and only remove steel where it is higher than the recurve. Otherwise, you could just send your knife to someone to both fix the blade shape as well as make some new scales.

Perhaps someone here will offer some services, otherwise you can check out the Custom Shop forum:
