Repairs?

How do I get a knife repaired that I like? Does anyone know if the side covers on the LB8 are glued? I know there are rivets but I would need brass stock to replace them with if that's what Schrade used. Essentially what I want to do is use an old beat up LB7 with good bolsters and transfer the blade and side covers to it from the LB8 with damaged bolsters. I know some pin locations are different. Any ideas? Should I just leave it alone? Thanks for the relies as always. Bruce.

Contact Dale (username orvet). He swapped out a bad blade for a good one in a user LB8 for me not too long ago. It took him some work, because over time the design had changed a bit, and the new blade I gave him wasn't quite the same as the old, but he made it work just great.

Thanks Dave I'll see what Dale has in mind then. I'll probably get booted off the forums for posting this here.

Nah, that's how I found out about Dale in the first place. You should be fine. It's not like you are trying to trade or sell your knife.

The LB8 handles should not be glued on. They are usually just pinned on.

Transferring a blade can be tricky as Dave mentioned.
There are several changes Schrade made to the internal design of the big lockbacks. Different pivot pin hole diameters, different pivot pin hole location and some changes in the the locking lug size.

I have parts for all of the variations I have seen, but I don't always have the correct blade stamping for a specific knife, though I have enough blades that I usually have a blade that will fit.

Dale
