Replace inlay on a Vesuvius?

After seeing the articles on the prototype I had to have one. Now that it has arrived, I'm not wild about the blue inlay. Has anyone tried to remove it and replace it with something else? I'm thinking carbon fiber or a dark rosewood veneer. Ideally I'd like to be able to remove it in one piece so it can be used as a pattern. Anyone?

The inlays of the Vesuvius are held on by epoxy. The trick is to pry up one end of it without damaging the rest of the handle. Though I have not done this before, it is conceivable to replace the inlays with other materials of the same thickness. Good luck and if you succeed, take some pics for the rest of us!
