Replacement Blade a Disappointment

yeah you got to remember that they relocated recently , and there will be problems from time to time, you just happen to have won the unlucky lotto, either way , I will trade you even for your knife for one of mine, we can trade some photos I have dozens of fine blades , most of them duplicates, and none of them flawed ( save for the occasional crack, but nothing like what you are talking about )

either way, rather than trouble my precious HI with frustrations, allow me to help you with a forumite trading extravaganza , I may even be able to arrange a knife for your woman as you posted in another thread, i will eventually buy enough knives from auntie to make up for the loss business of the two I will trade you :D

I have many flawed blades but because I have so many I probably am irritated far less, I even like some of the flaws, again would be glad to trade your ang for one of mine, I may even have a good almost direct replacement relatively recent

on all stock models I have bought I have never really had a problem, once i was accidentally shipped a gelbu special i didnt order, then sent another one to make up for it, but I paid in full for both because I thought they were both pretty, but I have never had the flaws of the caliber you are talking about, it sucks but it does happen in handcrafts that quality control misses once in awhile, otherwise maybe the mailman took your knife out for a party ?

let me soooothe your irritation away , release all negative flow , embrace community of blade love synjebek@gmail.com salinger, send me the pictures and I can post them for you using my photobucket?

also as a last thing, try to talk to karda or auntie, even in an extra ordinary case like this, they are not trying to rip anyone off, they are trying to put out a good product so people like you keep buying, not saying that posting is wrong, just dont forget that you can email karda and auntie , even when you have had problems like yours, I know they will do their best to help you, and that even if irritated now, long term reward is better than short term :D

You need a payed membership to host your pictures here. You can upload them to a free hosting site like photobucket then link them here if you want.

we can keep the thread, there is no need to hide anything, we stick together here, and stand with HI and its products -- I will post the damaged blade when i get pics, and even if auntie and karda will replace it free as I know they will, i would still like to save them the trouble and just let me hook you up braahhhh

the offensive blade itself

damaged sheath looks like blade may have been put in backwards ? and cut in? not sure could be normal top cut from pushing too straight

overall a great shape, and i would not mind at all trading with you sallinger, plus you can owe me one and i will toss in a knife for your woman

the damage, though it is present, is not enormous, but being your first blade I understand you want to admire perfection, but perfection requires many mistakes like this :D , and im glad to own them too -- so yeah def still in to trade you , look at my photobucket for pictures of my chitlangis and etc , i will trade you even for a chitlangi () or even for a cak when I get a new old one next week from another collection)- plus toss in a kvluk so you can start sharing the joys of khukuring with your girl

I think its a really pretty knife, good for going into work really , since blade is pre worn !

Gehazi what is that axe with your kukris in photobucket and where did you get it from it is very wicked indeed...

P.S love the bayonets very creative!

I bought that axe some 20 years ago at a gun show, some guy chopped open a fridge with one so I bought it, it looks extremely medieval and I do love it

I'm looking at the blade damages. It looks like someone batoned a brick with it (multiple small dents, following by linear scratches)

This blade and scabbard has a story to tell and it is very strange/unfortunate you got it like that.

I say it's the scabbard that took the biggest "value" hit. I'm with Gehazi for the blade. Few minutes of work to fix and polish and it will be like it never happen.

Sorry you got it that way.

Gehazi, I return your gentleman compliment. You are the best customer a company could dream of.

It looks like all the blade damage is in the sweet spot and might have resulted from a few swings at an ill-chosen target, such as a piece of wood with embedded sand.

A few months ago HI adopted a policy that every new blade had to be tested at the shop, and there was a photo of some kamis chopping wood to test the khukuris. I wonder if the testing of this blade was handed off to someone inexperienced, who did the damage then shoved the blade hastily into the scabbard to conceal his mistake, thereby damaging the scabbard.

It looks like the scabbard could be fixed by pushing the loose piece into place with some glue, unless the damage is more severe than shown in the photo.

I'm glad the situation has been remedied.

the scabbard shows why you should never hold the scabbard with the edge side in your palm, always hold it with the spine side in your palm and do not wrap your fingers around over the edge side. there is just a thin layer of leather between your palm with all it's tendons and blood vessels and a razor itching to cut. don't think because it hasn't happened yet, that it won't ever happen to you.

I do not have another CAK in stock for replacement, send the damage CAK back to HI and I will refund your money including the return postage. You are welcome to reorder the CAK when they becomes available.

I didn't noticed at first that the scabbard was damage on the blade side. Almost as if the blade was in the scabbard when it took the hit (cutting the scabbard and getting damaged on whatever it landed on)
