Replacement clip much better than original

Cold Steel sent me a replacement pocket clip for my American Lawman. I jacked mine up trying to bend it. The problem was the clip wasn't far enough from the g10 to allow materiel under it. The new clip isn't like that at all. Then I noticed the original clip had a curve and the new one doesn't. The new one is straight with a straight bend at the end that results in an opening plenty wide enough. I hope that makes sense. This design is much better.

That's actually really good to hear. The insanely tight pocket clip and rough G10 have always been a big negative for me and I'm happy to see they seem to have addressed both issues (at least on some models).
 
I am tempted to call and see if I can buy several and switch them on some others

Great news :thumbup:. Hope the new Lawman clip also fit the Recon/AK/Talwar series of blades. Got the new XHP Code 4, the clip is still like the old generation, very tight and hard to clip on, even with the smooth aluminum frame. By the way, is the new Lawman clip DLC coated or spray-painted?
 
Definitely spray painted. The screws in the same envelope scratched it pretty good so I repainted it.
 
This is the clip that comes on the new American Lawman. See how there isn't much room between the scale and the clip? It's harder to get on a pocket.uploadfromtaptalk1434056546577.jpg

Yep, I had to bend the ends of the clips up on my Code 4 and XHP Lawman to get them in my pocket. Not a big deal, but that replacement looks way better in that regard.
 
I've seen that replacement clip before; on some older models I think. Call me crazy, but I think that you actually got an old style clip. Anything you buy from the newer models will ship with the clip you didn't like afaik.
 
I wonder if I can buy a few more of these old style clips from Cold Steel. I like it much better.

That definitely looks like the clip for the old Lawman.
