Replacement for ALICE ?

Years ago I had heard that the US Army was considering replacing the ALICE pack system with something new. However I never heard what they finally decided. Did they find a new pack system and if so what is it called?

I don't know the designation, but I was issued the Gore-Tex pack (the one with the internal frame, and straps that adjusted by sliding on rails in the frame) when I was at Ft. Bragg. That was 1991.
We did not use it for jumps as they had not perfected the single-point release system for it.
It didn't really replace our ALICE packs as we still had and used them.
Of course we also got the Gore-tex boots, pants, and parkas years before everybody else, too.

The Army and the Marine Corps are both replacing the A.L.I.C.E. sytem with the M.O.L.L.E. system. Here is a link to a picture.

Arguing with a GRUNT is like wrestling with a pig. Everyone gets dirty and the little pig loves it.

The reason the U.S. Army is so successful in combat is that war is chaos; and the Army practices chaos on a daily basis

Marines already have the M.O.L.L.E., Army's Natick Lab is tweaking the system...can't remember what exactly the problem is/was, but it did have to do with the pack not being jump certified. Expect the Army to start issuing it next year, with the Marines doing retrograde fixes for the same problem. Source was the "Army Times" couple of months back, sorry that I can't remember more specifics.

I thought the ALICE was replaced by the CFP-90 pack. Maybe the CFP is for long range or extended use. It definitely looks bigger than the MOLLE. Maybe just the Army was issued the CFP? Anybody know?

I have both for sale in the non knives for sale stuff.

Pasquinel,
Haven't seen the "CFP-90", maybe it is a special-use pack, but I couldn't say for sure. The ALICE pack is STILL the Army's the standard issue, but it shouldn't be long before it goes the way of the old mummy sleeping bag, which is still in the inventory, but being replaced by the Improved Cold Weather Sleep System (Gore-tex outer shell and compression pack). This sleep system compliments the M.O.L.L.E. rather well I think (ie, would use either on the "outside", too).
