I'm getting a little bored with my BM 710D2.

What do you guys think would make a good replacement?

Similar in size, strength and quality. Not too heavy or bulky.
Doesn't have to be any particular manufacturer or lock type.
Price up to about 125 or so (selling price), around there.

Would appreciate any ideas you throw my way!

Thanks.

Try the Spyderco Military. Light and strong. Easier to clean than the 710D2. Better if you're a righty, and it's liner lock. I bought 30 knives from BM and Spyderco before finding the Military to be the holy grail.

How about a manix? A 710M2 was my first knife purchase. The G10 on the manix has more grip. I like the ergonomics of the manix better, thumb ramp and choil  . But I can't open or close the manix as quickly as the 710. Might be too bulky but it is the same length..

Having several 710's myself, look at the Spyderco CF Military in either S30V (preferred) or BG42. Just don't have too much fun with it ... ;)

I've switched from carrying a 710 M2 to a waved endura 4. At first glance the two knives may seem to not have much in common. But, both are outstanding at the same tasks, from utility to defensive use. The potential drawbacks of the endura vs the 710 -- lockback vs axis, zytel vs g-10 -- are not real drawbacks in actual use, particularly since the endura's lockback is very sound and the endura's zytel is backed by steel liners and hence is remarkably stiff and solid. And the endura's advantages -- better edge geometry out of the box, hole opener, wave, blade shape -- really shine in use. That's why my 710 has been rotated out in favor of a waved endura 4. There's a lot to be said for other spydercos mentioned here like the Manix and Military, but unlike those knives, the endura 4 preserves the 710's ease-of-carry, which is one of my favorite things about the 710 and endura. If you don't like the wave, get a regular endura 4.

I'm going to look at and handle a Manix and Military this week
I've had my mind on those knives for a long time.
Maybe I'll up the ante a little for the CF BG-42 version which really
looks astounding.

Joe - I have a couple of Endura 4s, and I agree with what you
said. I do like the 710D2 better though than the 4.

Another possibility is to pull my TSEK out of the safe
and put that into use again!

Thanks for the suggestions, I appreciate it.

Salt has the H-1 which has received mixed reviews.
The BMs I've looked at or have

The Yojimbo is an interesting idea...
I'll check it out.

Thanks for the input!

That is really a very useful pic, thanks for posting it.

I'm getting a little bored with my BM 710D2.

That's like getting bored with a beautiful woman or fast red sports car. I don't see how it can happen. I do carry different knives but my 710 is still always near the top of my list.

I went from a 710 to an 805 axis TSEK, very happy with that deal. Mayce an AFCK, axis or not?

Send it to me. I will study and document its "boredom factor" and send it back to you in a couple of decades:D .

I agree 100%.

If you're bored with the Axis-lock 710, I don't see how a lock-back like the Manix, or a liner-lock like the Military, could possibly be "the cure".

Now the waved Endura 4 is fun to play with and certainly not boring....your pants will probably give out before you get tired of drawing it from your pocket!:D

Good luck,
Allen.

I think you're right.

After a few days walking around with another EDC, I decided I'm
really not that bored with the 710. There's really nothing quite like it.
