Replacement for my stolen knife, sort of...

My 0560 walked away from my bag at work the other day. Apparently one of our employees got sticky fingers. I got to work and threw my bag down. I was rearranging my pockets and unzipped one of the pockets on my bag, tossed the 0560 inside and then had to go run to deal with something, leaving the bag open. Stupid, and not something that I normally do. I'm 75% as to who did it, but that's not enough. We have cameras everywhere, except where my bag was unfortunately.

Even though I have a 0561, the bug started playing its wicked game. I figured it would help me deal with the rage and desperate self pity to maybe look around and peruse some knife sites. Then I got to thinking about how the whole family in my dresser drawer would be taking the loss of a big brother, and it was over.
So... I have a Benchmade 710 in m390 on the way. Never handled one or seen one up close. It definitely screamed at me from the Internet. It will be my first m390, so I'm hoping that I dig it. ;)

Put a crappy steel folder in your bag again and hook a battery up to it. Leave it open like before, you'll figure out who did it! Sorry to hear that though. I would be pissed. I would find a way to figure out who did it!

Yeah, I'm thinking about doing something along those lines, but with a new camera set up rather than a battery (even though a car battery would be a lot more satisfying). I can afford to replace some of my things if someone decides to steal from me. We have some part time employees who are students and would be screwed if their bag got pilfered, so hopefully we can get it sorted sometime soon.

I don't care about the missing knife at this point. It's having a thief on the payroll.

Either way it's always good to have a new knife on the way, though it would be better for it to be in addition instead of replacing. I'm still excited for the m390.

The M390 is great blade-steel and the 710 is a classic. Sorry about the theft.
I hope that karma works.

Karma will teach sticky fingers a lesson, hopefully the ZT slices his fingers off.

I'd be all about finding that guy.

Game cam would be awesome. Put game cam in bag. Put knife on top of game cam. When thief opens bag, he gets pictured.

Ha! I'm going to be using one of our bubble cameras. Just have to change the angle under the dome, though I'm not sure if anyone will take the bait since we made it clear that we are watching now.

If justice is served please post!! I have been watching this post since day one and think thieves (especially knife thieves) are some of the worst kind of people.

^^No worries on that. ;-)

We have our newly focused camera angles, along with my pocket selection for the day. Next week we'll be setting some bait out--either another one of my knives, or a dead iphone that looks immaculate but is nothing more than a paperweight-- though I'm not sure the guy we suspect will take said bait. The guy that I'm 75% on may not be willing to press his luck.

On a more enjoyable note the 710 in m390 came in, and for a largish folder it almost feels small, sort of elegant even. The g10 on mine almost looks lacquered. The blade came a tad off center, but I think I can fix that. As far as the blade the edge,it looks like it was finished super coarse (like 220 grit possibly), but in a VERY good way. Very even edge and the only knife I've had come tree topping sharp.

I spent a while carving up boxes this week, and half the time I couldn't feel any resistance. It catches and breezes through what it touches. No need for stropping yet, and it's already been put to some work. I might let it get close to dull before I do any maintenance on the blade, just to see how slick m390 really is.

Very impressed all around, so much so that I'm batting around getting a second 710 in m390 when new-knife-funds are in the wallet(if they're still available), subject to the household demands for diapers, baby food, Costco trips, and how bad the gas stations in California feel like sticking it to the populace.

Either way the 710 will be in my pocket for the next couple of days sharing pocket space along with my "old" 0550 that 1SHOT1KILL put a deep carry clip on.

As an update, no one took our bait, and we had to let the guy I suspected go anyway for being useless. I'm out one of my favorite knives, and the guy is out of a job. Unfortunate round of events all together.
