Replacement for Sog-Tac Mini Auto type knife

I have arthritis in my thumb and find I can no longer grip a knife like a ZT 0770CF or other non textured scales. The best knife I have found to hold on to is a SOG-Tac or SOG-Tac Mini Auto knife for my grip. Since autos are not legal in my state (Oregon) I have to find something with similar features. Here is what I'm looking for: Critical - Flipper, great grip such as finger groves on the scale, size 3.5 inches or smaller, 4 oz or less. Desirable features but not mandatory - deep pocket carry, tip up, black, reasonable steel, brand optional, price $250 or less.

I would appreciate all suggestions, especially from those with a similar grip issue.

Than you,

Here is the law: It is illegal in Oregon to conceal carry, on your person, a dirk, dagger, or stabbing knife, a butterfly knife, gravity knife, or any knife with a blade that projects or swings into position by force of a spring or by centrifugal force.

For some reason assisted knives are fine, but autos are not. As long as you open the knife by touching the blade it is ok. Pressing a button is not.

Autos are fine to open carry in Oregon. I have a Benchmade AFO 2 tanto that I use as my main edc knife and have not had a single problem with it

I'm not sure what you mean with open carry. From articles I have seen sometimes you can get away with a clip showing and it is considered "open" and with other locations and law enforcement they consider it "concealed" .

Regardless, my arthritis causes a lot of pain in my thumb in pushing a stiff button, but no problem with a flipper - thumb vs finger pressure. So I'm still looking for a knife with a flipper that is similar to the tac auto.

Yeah, the way that's worded, I wouldn't carry an auto there.

The cold steel mini American lawman is what comes to mind immediately for me. Great knife. Good quality, great steel, super lightweight and great price.

The best and easiest to deploy flipper I have is the ZT 450. However the scales are smooth Ti so I don't think it would help.
Another great one is a Spydie Domino. Excellent flipper, but smooth scales. You'd also have an issue unlocking a frame lock with your thumb tho.
How about assisted? I have a few assisted Benchmades that do not need lots of force to deploy. 581, 586 and a 665 might be worth a look.
Good luck!

The Kizer Vanguard series might be worth a look as well.
