Does Busse sell replacement handle panels for their knives that have screws holding the panels in place? I was thinking that knives that have screws in their handles could offer a possible storage solution for small survival kit items like fish hooks, line, ferrocium rod if somewhat hollowed out. Another idea I have floating around is a handle with a hole drilled into it to accomodate a long ferrocium rod to be inserted from the butt (I know taken out of context this last sentence conjures up some graphic images.)Any other ideas for making a knife more of survival tool than it already is?

Thats just asking for trouble from this bunch :D
An infi butt plug:eek: Don't even want to think about it:barf:

Sorry for the post above. I hope no one is really offended. I just couldn't resist.:D

Hey there. I'm pretty sure it would be impossible to get replacement handle slabs for Busse knives. The one with screw head fasteners don't actually come off, and if I remember correctly that besides the screws the slabs themselves are secured right ot the INFI with something (memory beginning to fail). I know people have asked similar questions and Busse's response has always been that trying to remove the slabs would most certainly destroy them.

Actually, I heard that if you drill out the fasteners, the scales will come off (no epoxy). I don't know if this is true.

Of course, you could always make your own and use chicago screw or similar for fasteners. It would be a bit of work, but would be a lot of fun.

I think Andrew and I have different definitions of "fun" ;):D:D

The handles on the "E" models are simply held on with the tube fasteners. I have removed a few handles, and all you do is drill most of the way through and the slabs will fall off. I dont see why a person couldnt use the screw type fasteners and slightly hollow out the inside of the handle slabs. Then, you would have a small storage area. I might even try it myself.

Heck, I just added scales to a Patrol Machete (even thicker than the originals...and more contoured). It was fun :D

Working with your hands is a great stress reliever, especially using the grinder
