What’s everyone’s opinion on matching a custom show side scale with the lock side scale? I’m thinking of picking up a purple custom show side scale to replace a greenish bronze scale. The lock side will of course stay greenish bronze. I’m not sure I care that they may not jive with matching color schemes since the custom show scale is unusual and basically artwork - but, is this a faux pas? Does it matter? What say ye?

For some reason if it’s titanium on both sides I would want it to be the same color.
But if we’re talking about a G10 or CF show-side scale I’m fine with that.
The first knife I bought that “didn’t match” was the ZT 0452CF. Thought it looked odd at first but it has definitely grown on me

I'm sure there are many who will say it's a no-go (I know alot of people don't even like it when a knife comes from the factory with a different material on the show side), but I say go with whatever you like. I've done it with SAK's when I want a certain scale on one side but want to add the utility of the pen with plus scales. Then again, my tastes are a bit wacky 🤪

Some do it on purpose - like the cutleryshoppe.com Para 2 with one blue scale and one orange. Broncos fans rejoice?

I have a few that don’t match and it doesn’t bother me one bit. If you like it, go for it.

If you set your knife up in a way you think others will like it, or how you think pictures of it will be “well received”, you’re doing yourself a disservice.

Make it how you want it.

Go for how you like it. I have a PM2 with a Flytanium clip side and Blurple G10 side. It slides on/off pocket smoothly while affording some extra grip from the G10. I like the combination of features.

I have the same knife, it's awesome, one of the best ZT models for sure

I have a two tone SHF that I'm a big fan of. It was originally a PJ that the jimping grind didn't match, so I emailed the mothership and they wanted me to send it in for free. I asked them to send me a PVD scale instead, and they obliged. It's one of my favorites, and their customer service was great to deal with. The jimping on both scales still isn't identical, but the scales were ground a couple years apart, so I'm sure the manufacturing methods have changed. If you want to know the approximate build date of a SHF, it's under the filler tab on the show scale.

I have plenty of knives where one side is X material and the other titanium. I'm fine with it. I actually considered ordering an Olamic Wayfarer with a purple dark matter CF scale and green anodized lock side, with gold screws.

What's most important is that you like it.
