Replacement Thumb Studs

I needed to sharpen my Monterey Bay Knives Mini Old Guard on the Edge Pro.
I took the thumb studs off to make it easier to sharpen close to the choil.
When I tried to reattach the thumb studs, they just spun and never tightened.
Clearly, I somehow stripped the threads.
I've already contacted MBK but was also wondering if I could use aftermarket studs.
Or is that even a thing?
Thoughts?
Thanks all.

After market thumb studs are available. Whether they are recommended, quality or will even work on your particular knife is a different question. I have used them on beater BM Bugouts without issue.

Knifekits.com and USAknifemaker sell a variety of thumb studs. I've used several. But I can't say for sure if any will work for you.

Guy could probably just thread a piece of brass rod and cut to length.

I went through my thumbstud phase back in the early 90s, haven’t played with them much since. Maybe new ones are better. Kinda weird you stripped the threads removing them though, usually that happens on insertion by cross threading or overdriving.

Probably not worth the work to Helicoil, but you might try JB Welding them in place.

I probably stripped them trying to reinsert them. If I can’t get them from MBK I’ll JB weld them.
Thanks all.
