So I had 2 knives confiscated because I was too dumb and forgot to check about restrictions during travel to China. You can read about it here.

Anyway I'm looking for recommendations to replace the two knives.

The first has been my perpetual EDC for office use. It was a William Henry S07. Wharncliffe blade, VG-10 steel. Very light, extremely keen edge, solid lockup, quite pretty with the wooden scales, which came raw, but which I encased in superglue then polish up to mirror finish. I liked how the edge was easy to keep very sharp and how it sliced in to envelopes, packing material, boxes, tape, binding wraps, etc. effortlessly. The little leather pouch it rode in, with highly polished clip peeking out, looked fairly classy and allowed it to ride comfortably in jeans and suit pants alike.

The other knife to replace is a Benchmade AFCK with Axis lock. A good solid camp knife. Felt very balanced in the hand. Good solid lock up. Didn't carry it much, but it was my go-to when I was expecting any country/out-back time. This one I had thought of replacing with a Benchmade Emissary 477-1, or maybe the Benchmade McHenry Williams 710. Being carried a lot less, I can't really point to what I particularly like about it and therefore what qualities I am looking to cover. All I can say is that it should be robust, rock solid lock up, have a bit of heft...

Thanks in advance for your recommendations.

When traveling, take a SAK in your checked luggage. No one cares about a SAK, looks harmless and is easy to replace if needed.

I think the 710 would be a reasonable replacement for the AFCK. Another good option would be a Spyderco Military.

Benchmade 940 is the reverse tanto blade style? Is that shape good for general camp use? I must say I am quite taken with the North Fork with wood scales. And probably the Osborne too. I might eventually get them all anyway.

Any recommendations for the William Henry S07? I'm currently carrying an A.G. Russell Arkansas toothpick with abalone shell scales. It's pretty and the long blade makes it easier to slice through envelops. But the lock up doesn't feel very robust and you can't open it one handed. And I had to build a leather pouch for it.

Crk mnandi for the s07? I dont know if you're willing to go that high price wise, but they seem like pretty close contenders.

For the office I would suggest either a William Henry E6 or E10 or a Spyderco Air. I carry a 940-1 which would also be a good choice. I carry it clipless in suit pants almost every day and it works because it probably weigh just over 2 oz without the clip.

To replace the AFCK, why not look into a Reate. I have a district 9a and its a beast of a knife that has absolutely surprised me. It's a bank vault and very smooth. There's also the KW 710 in M390 that is a great value.
