Hi all!
I have a Buck 110 - a great knife and I love it.
But I've made a mistake - i've thinned the edge a bit - well it became an awsome cutting and whittling machine, but also became pretty fragile. For bad luck,I've broken the tip of the knife bu using it to drill some holes in a piece of wood. The tip has bended and when I tryed to straithen it up,it snapped with a nasty sound :(
My question is:If I send the knife to the Buck factory, will they be able to change the blade with a new one and would it be very expensive?I guess, that the postage costs will be pretty high too-sending it from Bulgaria to the USA,and then the long way home...
What do you gyus think ?

I think they will fix it,but its your own fault it broke, its a great knife, but a lousy drill .lol

I know it's my own falut, that it broke, but I'm thinking is it any worth of sendig it to them-it would be probably more expensive than buying a new knife :D
I'll try to fix it - it'll be shorter, but would still work...

Aw, c'mon. Cut the guy a break. I'm sure if he'd had a DeWalt handy he would have used it. We've all abused tools at one time or another. Part of what makes a great tool great is how much abuse it will put up with.

Besides, it's not like he abused a good knife... :-)

Oh, yes. A few years ago I used my 110 to open oysters. That was a big no-no. I learned my lesson. I still have not found a decent oyster knife, BTW.

Shipping to and from Bulgaria has to be expensive. Maybe it would be best just to buy a new knife? I dunno?

Joe will likely be on here monday and able to confirm one way or the other..

Z -shipping here is likely to be around 20 usd and back would be 20 usd..
buck may not pay over seas shipping..
but you would be looking at 40 to send and get it back...

folks were he lives Buck knives are NOT inexpensive!
the replacement cost might be over 60$ ... tight call

Thanks for the answers,guys! :)
Yes,it would be pretty expensive to replace the blade.I'll fix it myself :D
Maybe(after the planned buying of a nice fixed blade) I'll buy a 110 FG.
334dave - You're right, pal!Buck kniveves are not cheap here.I got mine for around 70 $ from a bulgarian knife store....

If you're ambitious, you could buy just a blade and replace it yourself...it's a bit of work, but not too difficult...

DarrelS does it quite often... :D
