i have a friend thats in in iraq atm and relies on a gerber, im going to send her a ESEE for xmas, im thinking the 4 CP with all the trim, what do yall think? thanks.

I think that's a great choice, you can never go wrong with an ESEE. I'm sure she'll be very pleased.

it'll be such an upgrade from one of the "old school" names of quality knives. the bullet proof warranty and the awesome fit and finish of the esee will blow her away. good luck and thank her for her service

ESEE knives in the hands of United States Military in areas of conflict = FREEDOM.

Awesome gift idea, and the 4 is a great choice for an all around knife.

Thanks,

JGON

I think the 4 is a great idea. I love to hear about folks supporting our troops. What better way then to help them get the tools they need to get the job done and get home safe.

The 4 is a great knife, but I would go with the 3 mil. It doesn't have the reach of the 4, but I can honestly say that in my time in iraq and Afghanistan we didn't get in many knife fights. The 3 mil is my favorite, and she could carry it everyday even when she comes home, as we have to follow the same blade length laws as everyone else. Just my opinion though. Thank you for supporting the troops sir, supportive Americans seem to be a dying breed!

What Gerber is she currently relying on? I can't think of too many Gerbers that I'd want to have in a battle-zone - The ESEE 3/3-Mil/4 would all be good upgrades over something like the LMF-II or anything I can currently think of that Gerber makes (not talking smack, but I've owned a few Gerbers and tested them pretty harshly - was not impressed).

I would say either the 3 or 4 would be a great gift. Great gesture on your part for thinking of this & for sending a useable gift to someone abroad. Please tell her the JUST1MOR household sends their thanks for her service to allow us to have the freedoms we have. I hope she comes home safe & be sure to send some pics when she gets the knife.
Godspeed.
Be safe.

I think a HEST would make for a perfect blade for the sandbox. With it's 3/16" thickness, and it's the perfect size and length for getting any job done that she'd need done. The ESEE 3 MIL is 1/8" thick and doesn't quite have the strength for prying.

depends on what her MOS (in english please) is.

some jobs won't have her using a blade much, other jobs she may be using it quite frequently.

i'd think hat a 3 MIL or HEST may be very good choices. but nothing wrong with a 3 or 4, or even a 5... but the 5 may be getting a bit big.

all depends on what she does, and what she'll be using it for.

and +1, tell her thanks for her service!

EXcellent choice, but as a grunt I personally wouldnt get her the CP. I have one myself and i find it unnecessary. The 4 plaine edge will accomplish 95% of her tasks efficiently.

i didnt think about mos.... i cant remember off the top of my head what hers is, we were kinda drunk last time it came up. that may make my mind up. i will for sure pass on all the support. as for what gerber it is, i didnt ask, my last few experiences with gerbers were not good, not somthing i would want to possiblely have my life depend on.
