Would you replace the Buck you're carrying with the exact same thing and why?

How many of you would replace the current Buck you're carrying? Or would you replace with a totally new model.

I just lost a 305 (so easy to do btw) and I've been thinking about replacing it with the exact same thing. It just fits my needs so well and when I pull it out people rarely give it a second glance, perfect in a metro area.

Oh, if you lose it you must replace it. Absolutely. You can get something else too, but it will eat you alive if you don't replace the one you lost.

I switch around a lot. Some of them I would definitely replace, some i might not even tho i do like them. I would have to lose several 110's and a couple of 303's before i was completely out of them. If that ever happened i would definitely replace them, can't imagine not having a 110 and a 303.

You don't replace it if you loose it, you buy the replacement before you loose it. Geez! :)

Replace with the same, if available.
2 or 3 of my Buck knives are out of production.

Yes, it hurts when the one you lose is out of production. That has happened to me. Of course I couldn't replace that one. But I still carry a 110
I like that can't be replaced. Well, that's the one I like to use. DM

To BuckShack and kossetx: LOLOLOL! Its true on both accounts. It does just eat away at you. And yes its much wiser and more expensive to replace it beforehand.

Years ago I lost a Case that couldn't be replaced and I was lucky enough to find it a little under a year later. That drove me nuts because I got so used to the replacement the Case just got put back into box. But I gotta replace this 305. Its just driving me nuts:confused:

For me, it would depend on which Buck. If it's my 110 or 119 then I'd definitely replace with the same. If it was something like my Bucklite Max fixed blade, I'd change it up for something else.

After awhile you will have duplicates of your Buck favorites - if I lost one I would go to my box and pull out another. Might not be the same steel, but it would be the same model. As an example, I've got four of the Buck 118, my favorite deer hunting knife - all four are different steels, but the knife would work the exact same when skinning/butchering. OH

With me the ones that I really like I've modified the handle or reground the blade or added a lanyard hole. Or taken it completely apart and
reheat treated the blade. Now it is more like a custom knife. If I lose one of these I'd have to do a lot of work to get it back like the one
I had. Which could take me months, to find it and work it, even if I had a spare. So, many times I merely carry one that is close to one I
really like. This way I'm not depressed if I lose it. DM

I hate losing a knife. I have done it and it is like losing your favorite dog.

I'd be lost without a 110. Of course if I had extra cash, I might replace it with an upgrade, but it would still be a 110, clip point. I tried a drop point, and was not happy with it.

That's actually a really tough question. It's definitely situational. Seeing how Buck has a lot of knives that are similar in the 300 series, I guess it'd depend on if I felt changing the size, blade shape, or whatever would be an advantage to me. If I lost my 303 I'd be hard pressed to change it because I love the small stature of it, but maybe a 301 would suit my needs better.

I guess I'd do whatever feels right, haha. I'm a creature of habit, but new knives are new knives! It's hard to say no to a new blade.

In general is replace it before I'd try something else.
Now if I lost my 425 I wouldn't replace it with another, I'd go with a 283.
The 425 minibuck was my first buck, but after having bought the 283 I much prefer it.

The Buck 110 is something I always have to own, as is probably my 482.

I'd definitely replace it. I usually try new things when it's in the budget, but I'm getting to the point where I know what models I like and I've been sticking to them. Mostly a 110, 112 and 501. If I lost my custom 110 with s30v and oak scales, I might try a different handle material if I was going to replace that one. So that's a good, tough question and I reckon you could take it a step farther based on model or a variation of a particular model...

I love my pre '86 micarta 501 so much I bought two.. and a newer one (2016) with wood, although it just doesn't speak to me at all.

My very first 110 (and thoughts like the one that started this thread) prompetd me to pick up two 2 dot 110's and a 3 dot 110 (with a second possibly coming soon).

Lastly, and the most surprising to myself, the 55. I only have one, but plan on picking another one up pretty soon. I know if I lost it, there'd be another on the way that same day. Love that little guy. Slim design, clip point, lock back. My favs :D

The rest I believe I would be happy with a vintage version (with a spa trip) replacement of anything I lost or misplaced.

I would replace it with the same knife, in that I would replace a 110 with a 110 and a 112 with a 112 and so on. I would look at different options in terms of scales, steel and such.

I would get a different model because for me, the same model probably just wouldn't be the same. Especially if I had carried the original for a long time.

The bond that I formed with the original one would have to be formed all over again and I'm not sure if that would actually happen or not. It would be the same knife but it wouldn't be the same knife, if that makes any sense.

For that reason I would get something different and hope to form a new bond with that.

My proplem is for some God only knows reason, Buck no longer makes the Ti Mayo, the grandpa of all those Vantages :)
