I have a red Scoutlite from my dads collection. That and a Buck Frontiersman are about the only things he left when he died. I carried the Scoutlite since I was about 12, and have worn the blade down to the point that the tip sticks out of the handle and the edges are really thick. How hard would it be to drill out the rivet and replace the blade? Has anyone tried this on any of Buck's other polymer handled lockbacks? I really like the handle, and the blade served as my main knife for 15 years, until I got out of college and got a full time job and could afford my first Benchmade and Kershaw Random Task. The blade was 3" long and was the clip point style from the 110, just shorter. I'm sure I could find stock to match and make a new blade, but the mechanics of fitting the lock and repinning the pivot may be out of my skill level.

Why not just file the "kick" down so that the tip sits lower?
The kick is on the edge side of the blade, at the tang. A few file strokes and your blade tip won't stick up.
Making a blade is not as easy as you think, nor is fitting it.
Perhaps you could see if Buck would rebuild it for you. I would think they would do it for a minimal charge.

Your best bet is to read this http://www.buckknives.com/warranty.php
I have a Buck 110 that I have had since I was a kid , the tip broke off years back and it become forgotten at the bottom of my tool box.
I sent the knife in with a letter explaining myself and that I was willing to pay to have new blade installed , if necessary.
About two weeks later my knife was sent back with a brand new blade , tight as ever and even polished.
Folks can poo-poo Buck all they want , not many big companies would do that for a person.
