Replacing emblem/shield on a 701

Found a 701 in a pawn shop that isn't in too bad of shape overall but it's missing the Buck emblem/shield on the scale. If I were to get it and send it in is there anything Buck can do with regards to installing a new shield, even one that isn't correct to the knife?

I really like the 700 series models and would like to pick this one up to add to my other two 701's but would like to "make it whole" so to speak, if possible. TIA

I may have a shield for it. I'll look in a little while and let you know. If I do, I'll send it to you and you can glue it on.

Thanks Eric. I saw the knife last weekend. Gonna head over and see if it's still there.

I wonder if the shield for a 701 is the same size as the shield off of a 705 or 709? I know I have those shields.

Eric: One thing should be determined - is the 701 a pre - 1986? The blade tang should tell him (Buck will be in Script letters) if it is pre. If it is, then the shield should probably be in Script. I say probably because Buck used a few Script shields with Block tang lettering as the models were being phased out and parts were being used up. There are also Block lettered shields with Script tangs. Makes for interesting collecting.

Well that was a bust. Went back and checked it out again. Last week I just skimmed over it since it was missing the shield and I've got two nearly mint examples already. Today I really looked it over. Beside the missing shield I noticed that under the price tag they stuck on it, the corner of the scale on one side was broken off. The main blade was in fairly rough shape and they wouldn't budge on the $20 price. Decided I could do better. Oh, it was marked in BLOCK letters. I'm hoping to find one with the script markings.
