  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

i have a home made power hammer. the leaf spring that attaches to the arms that balance the ram broke. i will go to a junk yard to pick up another one but what is the best way to bend the spring into a c shape without hurting myself? if i must anneal it prior to bending whats the best method of heat treat and tempering such a spring? i probably will not know what steel it is going to be. sincerely kyle

Anneal , bend , and re heat treat. You will have to assume the type of steel, but most likely it will be 5160.

Kyle, if you decide you don't want to tackle that, call National Spring in San Diego, CA. They are experts at fabrication springs for just about anything.
I don't have their # handy, but they're listed.
