Replacing my duty boots

Well, about 2 years ago now I found myself in need of some replacement duty boots. Previously I had been using Danner Stryker II but between the increased cost of the new models and the short'ish service life (better than other low cost boots) I held off. Tried a number of NIB surplus boots and some have been quite nice. Currently wearing a Bates 21500 "ICB" model which I like a lot (as well as a steel toe Addison) but neither of them offer the ability to doff quickly AT ALL. My job position has changed drastically, as well. I now wear scrubs full time and only need duty boots for part time use.

Initially was thinking of spending the coin on Danner Acadia boots as they just seem to work for everyone. Tried them on, and they seem like they could be comfortable eventually. the 4E width fit my toes but I'll need to go down to AT LEAST a 2E for proper ankle and heel support. Based on some other similar Wellco's I've worn I'd rather not. Thinking of looking at other options, especially since the acadias will need extra lace in zippers for my purpose.

Actually thinking about something like a wellington style. Very biased to a Vibram outsole, preferably stitch down or goodyear welt. Any suggestions or models that you've had good experience with? A quick Amazon search shows fairly limited options. Now, I'm not worried about price although I'm not looking at anything too pricey. Good boot good value but willing to pay for it, ya know?

I wear the Ft. Lewis for cold weather and the Acadia for warmer weather. After the break in and some quality insoles they are the most comfortable pair of shoes I own. As far as the cost to me it's well worth it. When you finally wear them out you can send them in for @$130 they will completely refurbish your boots for you.

I've gone through a million of them.

The last uniform order I got some Bates quarter boots. They don't come up as high as the others I've tried but work just right with my ankle BUG holster. It rides just atop where the Bates rise up to. These have side zips and have held up well for cheapies. They take a good shine, oil resistant soles, and seem to have solved my constant knee pain with a higher instep support. They don't seem to get stinky like some other brands I have tried over the years and I have a year's worth of mileage on them at the PD gig.

I have used HAIX- great quality, support and customer service, downside is weight- it has a steel toe and steel shank.

Currently, I am issued 5.11 boots, much lighter, and quality is ok.
