Replacing Scales

I ordered a Collins Machete a few weeks ago and noticed that the scales are not too great. They wiggle while swinging and feel cheap. I contacted Andy at Fiddleback about fixing it up for me but don't really want to put that much money into a machete I will only use occasionally. So my question is if I was to order some micarta how do I put it on? I replaced the scales on a machete a long time ago with walnut and some matching nuts and bolts but this time I want to really do this machete some justice. Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

I guess epoxy and pins will do. Cut out the scales, attach the pins and apply epoxy.

Same as you did last time, though I would suggest counter sinking the hardware if you did not last time. If you have access to a sand/media blaster, you could blast the tang and side of the scales that will mate to the tang so the epoxy will hold better. Just put clamps around the nuts/bolts. Please get before and after pics to share with us!

Good luck!
