I dropped one of my medium SharpMaker rods and it broke. So I recently purchased two new medium rods. I am really surprised by how much more aggressive the new ones are compared to the old ones. I remember reading somewhere that the medium rods would wear down eventually. Now I am thinking that means they lose their bite, not that they wear down and become bowed in the middle. Anyone else experience this? The old rods were about four years old and averaged about a knife a day.

I think I remember seeing on my Sharpmaker tape (got it before the DVD came out) that the medium stones would last about 5 years with regular use. I've had mine a lot longer than that, but I don't sharpen as often as you do.
