All-

I hope I'm not posting in the wrong place.

I recently had a knife I've carried for many years stolen. It would mean a great deal to me if I could be pointed in the right direction to find its replacement.

I am looking to purchase a Spyderco "R" (skeleton) folding pocket knife.

Thank you very much in advance,

WL

Welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear about your knife being snatched...and an R, no less. These are considered collectable, but can be found (for a price) on ebay and you may also wish to post in the "Knives, wanted to buy" section of this forum. Maybe some forumite with a spare will be able to help with your situation.
Best wishes.

Hawkbill-

Thank you. I have searched ebay for a week now... no luck. I most certainly will pay "a price" (assuming its not thousands of dollars).

I'll link to this post in the "buy sell" area.

i've seen them occasionally on ebay, not as much as the Q model though, you can try the for sale section here on BFC you can also check out the for sale sections at knifeforums.com

Could anyone explain (or post some pics) of the difference between the "Q" and the "R". I've seen the Spyderco "Q", but I can't seem to find any info on the "R".
Thanks for your help.

R is a laser cut-out blade which is bigger than the Q. Probably about 3 1/2" to the Q's 2".I believe it only had one type of pattern, (web?) if not it certainly didn't have as many variations as the Q.

Here is a picture and description.

Just 2.75 oz (77 g). Overall length is 8" (203 mm). The blade is made of premium ATS-34 stainless steel. The C67 "R" is all guts without the fluff, literally. Using a unique and intricate skeletal pattern for both handle and blade, the Spyderco engineering team has developed an incredibly strong yet lightweight folder. Designed to offer full-sized cutting power with the least amount of mass, the "R" features a 3 ½" (89 mm) blade available in a SpyderEdge™ or PlainEdge™ configuration. The inclusion of the Spyderco Trademark Round Hole™ lets you open and close the blade one-handedly. A rich dark-colored Almite was chosen as a coating for the handle. Known for its capacity to resist wear and scratching, Almite is a thin, tough layer that adds no weight to the already slim handle. A black metal three screw clip keeps the knife riding low in your pocket for convenient tip-up carry.
