I have a damasteel reate mini horizon d that I really like except I feel like it needs two changes.

1. It needs a detent ramp because it is way too rigid when closing and clicks at several points. If you have recommendations on how to do this, I am open. Otherwise, was just going to find a small diamond rod. That may be an overly naive approach.

2. Replacing the carbon fiber inlay. I am thinking of wood or something else. Open to suggestions. My idea right now is to use a heat gun and try to use the single hole in the back to poke out the inlay. Also, may be naive as well.

If you were tackling this project, what would you do? Any recommendations would help!

The DIY detent ramp is probably not going to work. It takes a lot of precision and careful geometry to make it right. Great way to ruin a perfectly good blade. (but... I'd love to be proven wrong on this and see it actually done. It would be cool)

The CF inlay might come out with some heat. I'd use a heat gun from the back side. If you are careful, you can reuse the CF as a template for the new piece of material.

TRfromMT TRfromMT thanks for the advice.

Will try the heat gun and see if I can get the epoxy to break free. You are right on about saving the inlay and I was hoping to do that.

Might hold off on the detent ramp with your comments.
