Some may be familiar with 18TH.CENT. Colonial Williamsburg.org.eg:they make cut nails on a bellows forge .In the 18th.Cent.,steel was expensive so,they make hatchets by folding iron over a strip of steel welded into the edge. They do it in clothes that are made from flax grown there, spun there and woven there, with tools that they made with what was available in the 18th.Cent.I am not sure how relevant this is but,it is clear that HI production methods are changing. This is not going to be as obvious as a pre `64 Mod 70 or a pre war Colt but,I was just wondering if there would be a change in perspective among us end users.Traditionally made Khukuries V. modern method Khukries.I have the next to the last 18th.Cent.Kuhukri.As I understand it,there will be no more.

Primary method of manufacturing remains the same. Firing the charcoal and drilling holes is changing.

I can see where Ghostsix is coming from, there is a part of me that appreciates the way the khukuris from HI are made. It would not be trivial for me to decide between two shops, one with the traditional methods and one with newer equipment even if the product was slightly improved. I can see of course why modern equipment would want to be used if at all possible, but it would be nice if the traditional method was still an option so nothing is being lost.
