I have added a convex edge to a few of my knives and in doing so, I scratched them up pretty good - except where the edge it's self is. That has a mirror polish. Is there any way to polish up the sides of the blade where my coarse stone scratched it using minimal tools?

When I convex on a 1"x30" belt sander I do most the work with a 500 grit belt very slowly then go to 1000 followed by 1200 grit belts to get the mirror finish back...
