Well, after fondling her for two weeks now I finally got her dirty. She went through old fence planks, a couple of posts, a 2X8 and a few old mop handles (one of 'em aluminum). The 2X8 was the only thing I had to really chop and chop. After that I could feel the burn in my arms. The aluminum mop handle nicked the edge just a hair. Not enough to see, but enough to feel with my thumb nail. A couple of passes with a fine stone took care of that. All in all I'm amazed. One heck of a tool from Kumar. Think I might need something bigger in the future.:D

Both of my WWII's are by Kumar. The man sure does makae a pretty damn good knife. Both of mine have to be in the 60 RC range in the sweet spot. The ceramic rods do a good job of sharpening them both but, I can really feel the difference when it comes to that hard place. Seems the rod wants to glide just a bit. I don't let them get dull really so it isn't a problem for me.:)

Sounds like you broke it in good Frank:)

Welcome to the Cantina (meant to say this sooner)!!:D

Happy chopping, and yeah, you'll need something bigger...and shorter...and with a different handle type...and with fullers...and with a carved handle...in short your disposable income is DOOMED;) :D

Aluminum is a 'sticky' metal to cut. it actually loads on the steel blade, which may make the blade feel dull. What you were feeling with your thumb nail is most likely a deposit fo the aluminum on the blade.

I didcovered this about aluminum from cutting aluminum with a saw, which was much harder than aluminum, but was feeling dull. My engineer bro told me abouut the loading properties of aluminium, and I examined the jig blade closely -- sure enouugh, there were deposits of aluminum in the teeth, not dulling to the teeth.

Just an FYI on Aluminum.

I've actually heard of some people rubbing aluminum foil on small blemish spots of stainless blades. Always wondered about that.

I read somewhere that you could dip aluminum foil in Coca-Cola and rub it on a rusty car bumper to remove the rust !?!

Oh, other useless Coke facts: You can use it to clean your toilet, it removes blood from asphalt, it was used by Coke delivery men to degrease their truck engines, and any truck hauling just the Coke syrup has to have Haz-mat placards in place.

Yeah, Coke syrup probably has enough phosphoric acid in it to be real exciting in large quantities.

When I was a kid I heard the nail in the coke bottle story -- put the nail in and the coke will eat it up. True? Anyway, what does coke do to our guts?

Heard this story once. Someone was trying to find a cheap spermicide. They found that 7 Up killed 10% of the sperm, Coke killed 50% and Diet Coke wiped out 100%. Why do I keep on drinking this stuff?

I heard that story, too. Before the days of the pill rumor had it that one of the best birth control methods was a coke douche.

Absolutely *NOTHING*

The acidity of *WINE* is even worse than Coke. Another interesting fact, wanna know what's even *MORE* acidic? Your Stomach! Pretty much *THE MOST* acidic environment *ON THE PLANET!!!*:eek::eek:

I don't know if Coke Syrup went the way of Quinine in the US Pharmacies but it worked wonders for an upset stomach. I used to give it to my kids as I was given it when I was a youngster.
I still drink Coke for an upset stomach, generally a couple every morning.

Quinine was/IS a wonder drug for leg cramps otherwise known as "Charlies" and it was taken out of circulation, you could still get it from the pharmacist until it was removed from even behind the counter. :(
Walmart now carries a "leg cramp" pill that has quinine in it over the counter and it still has enough quinine in it to get the job done.:)

I really should try the Sassafras Root my grandson dug up for me in Missouri for the upset stomach, but hadn't thought of it until just now again.
Probably better for a person than the Cokes.;)

Ginger is good for upset stomach and motion sickness.
