So, my friend, (a naturalized US Citizen), just recently returned from a trip to Cuba, (her homeland and where her mother still lives). Anyhow, her and her son know I collect knives, (and other "gadgets"), and they were kind and thoughtful enough to bring this back for me. It's a hand carved/hand polished/hand burned in decorated knife that is made of cattle bone/bull horn. It is quite a neat little piece, looking much better in hand than the picture shows. Even though this is meant to be a souvenir/decorative item, natural bone was at some point in history actually used to make usable tools, so the traditional thing does hold water on such an item :)
Very neat, and now something very sentimental to me. I will display her proudly amongst my collection :)
