So, my friend, (a naturalized US Citizen), just recently returned from a trip to Cuba, (her homeland and where her mother still lives). Anyhow, her and her son know I collect knives, (and other "gadgets"), and they were kind and thoughtful enough to bring this back for me. It's a hand carved/hand polished/hand burned in decorated knife that is made of cattle bone/bull horn. It is quite a neat little piece, looking much better in hand than the picture shows. Even though this is meant to be a souvenir/decorative item, natural bone was at some point in history actually used to make usable tools, so the traditional thing does hold water on such an item
Very neat, and now something very sentimental to me. I will display her proudly amongst my collection
