Clyde Hollis just posted over in SwordForums that he has ordered the last 20 of the Musso Reproductions from the Philippines and, with the 19 on the shelves, that makes 39 total available. If you are thinking of getting one, you should do so soon.

He also posted that his next reproduction will be of the Iron Mistress knife from the film of that name and the Jim Bowie TV show in the 1950s. Knife Digest did an article on that knife years ago and the author, Jack (Somebody) said that it was one heavy and unwieldy thing, but it was what turned me on to knives and I WANT ONE!

Edited to say that the Imperial Weapons site now says that there are 25 more Musso Bowie replicas made up and for sale. If any of you want one, you had best get a move on.

Hugh, I've seen the pics of the Iron Mistress model and I'm afraid it just doesn't speak to me the way the Musso does. . .

Dale, so have I and I am not so certain how closely it is following the film knife. Now, I am not a fancier of flm SLOs and such, but this knife was what got me started on collecting knives and, if it looks like the film knife, I want one.

I received my Iron Mistress replica over the weekend and it does, indeed, look very like the movie prop. It shows the same workmanlike level of quality that the Musso Bowie replica showed and it is a very nicely done item. What surprised me, given the reports that I had read of the original being heavy and unwieldy, is that this one is really quite handy, IMO. After I have had more time to play with it, I'll post more commentary.

Hugh,

Thanks for the "heads-up" on this! Missed the first issue, but just got done talking with Clyde and ordered one. Thanks, again.

I got lucky and found a Gen2 Musso Bowie on ebay.
It wasn't cheap, but what the Heck, they ain't making any more of them.

I keep hearing this little voice in my ear telling me to make a full sized copy of the Musso Bowie out of my Damascus.
I would use blued Damascus for fittings and maybe some walnut burl for the handle.
I'll have to make a 2" wide bar of Damascus to do it and even with that I'll likely have to cross pean the edge when I forge the 13-3/4" long blade.
That knife is huge.
I just finished this Bowie and I think a Musso with this steel in the blade and the blued Damascus fittings would look awesome.
A guy could even put Mokume along the back instead of brass.
