So I have the 5 Diamond stone tsprof so far. The Tsprof set comes with a 150 grit diamond stone that does not quite reprofile fast enough. Was looking into the options below. What stone would reprofile faster and not have scratches so deep that I still have to spend a ton of time with the 150?

Venev Orion Diamond 80
Edge Pro Diamond 80
Atoma Diamond 140
Hapstone Diamond 100

Thanks

I just got a poltava 120 cbn that 777 edge suggested. The couple times I sharpened since I got it I used it more than the venev 80 after switching back n forth to reprofile. I just got the 80 too so not much time to compare. It's better than a f100 venev. The f150 still did enough to make it worth using. The only one I sharpened with the 80 venev was a d2. It cut a new edge really fast. That knife also was really quick to finish so it might be a little soft.

I'm only familiar with the Atoma and the Venev. Of the two, I would say that the Atoma will cut faster. Generally speaking, plated stones cut faster than resin bonded stones ... at least until they dull out. The beauty of the resin stones is that you can refresh them when they slow down.

The Atoma 140 is more or less the gold standard for profiling stones among freehand sharpeners.

The Atoma 140 is a metal removing machine, especially when new. I also have the Venev F80+F150 and think the Atoma is a bit quicker. I don't have the Diamond Matrix 80-grit but from what I've heard it is also quite the metal removal hog.

I'd probably go with the Diamond Matrix stone due to it's increased longevity compared to a plated stone. It will consistently remove metal at a very high rate it's entire life cycle, with only the possibility of needing a quick dressing once a year to refresh it's surface. Plus the maker of the stones is very active in here, always standing behind his product offering help/tips when needed. That simple fact is why I just ordered his stones for my Edge Pro over the Venev's, which I have the set of full sized bench stones and have been happy with their performance. Very excited for the diamond matrix stone to arrive.
