reprofiled FBM?

I'm trying to freehand sharpen my CGFBM down to a 30 degree angle (15 per side). I'm working on a 10" DMT duosharp coarse/fine stone and am finding it's taking quite a long time. I haven't noticed any wire edge or burr forming yet and I've already spent a couple hours on the stone working both sides.

I'm pretty new at the sharpening game, but does anyone have an estimate of how long it should take and/or what the knife should look like when I get there? Should I just stop mutilating the poor thing and send it to Ban?

I know that Ban is really busy right now so you would probably be waiting a while if you sent it to him.

Still, it'd probably be there and back in half the time it'll take me at my current pace.

i use an extra course DMT. on a medium sized blade it takes me about an hour for a heavy reprofile, although i don't take a lot of time to carefully keep the same angle since i only use it to thin the edge before convexing it.
