Hi folks;
i clamped my recon 1 to the lansky system for sharpening and realized that 1 side is 17 degree other is 30 degree :eek:Its kinda chisel ground now:D
Should i leave that way and sharpen both sides with different angel or reprofile 17 degree to the 30 degree.(its gonna be faster than 30 to 17 i guess)
Also i dont want that thin edge on this knife.

Sorry for bad English on thread title

That's up to you. If it's at least sharp right now, you might just leave it as is, and use it for a while. You might find reason to like it, or at least get a clearer idea of how you want it the next time you re-bevel. The cutting action will likely be 'skewed' to one side, as the blade will tend to turn away from the steep bevel (30) and towards the shallow bevel (17). Depending on how you typically use the knife, that may be a good thing or bad. At the very least, it could be a good lesson in cutting geometry, especially if you modify it later and take note of the differences in cutting performance.

it needs to be sharpen now but it was sharp.Its more of a hard use knife for me.I dont wanna mess to much with rebeveling so can i just put a 30 degree microbevel on 17 degree side and sharpen that way?

i would microbevel it and not take life from your blade. sharpen it out as you use the knife.

I don't see why not. In the short-term, that seems to be an easy way to handle it. As I said before, you'll likely get a better idea of what changes you might make down the road, after using it for a while. As a 'hard use' knife, so long as you're not batoning with it or striking the blade (which I wouldn't recommend anyway), you should be OK.

Thanks Richard and David.I started microbeveling.Lets see am i gonna be create the famous Mr.''Burr'' this time.

I would keep the one side at 17 and bring the other side down to match. Maybe not all at once. Over time with successive sharpening I would even them out.

Good Luck.
