Like the title says, I have a knife that is teflon coated and I would like to reprofile it. However before I go ahead and do it, I'm just wondering if the teflon will ruin my stones.

Thanks in advance for your help!

if you are going to do a small area no, if you are going to be doing a large area like the whole blade for instance, i would remove the coating.

I'll be doing the entire length of the blade. Is there a good way to remove the coating or do I just scrape it off with something? Thanks for your help!

if you are just doing the edge only, you will be ok. if you are going to be going up the blade quite a ways, i would sand it with some abrasive paper.

I'm planning on changing the angle of the bevel so I think I'll have to sand it a bit. Thanks for all your help! Greatly appreciated!
