I was looking for something to kill some time tonight and I had been wanting to try my hand at making a simple pocket sleeve for my slipjoints. First, I just want to say that I am in no way bragging about this and I definitely don't think it looks like anything professional, but I'm pretty happy with it for my first try. All I had for material was an old leather belt and some cord. I started by cutting a strip long enough to fold over, and then drilled holes down each side to loop the cord through. After that, all that was left was to loop the cord through the holes and tie them off at each end. I will definitely try making some more of these for more of my knives and hopefully refine them a little bit more. All in all, I'm pretty pleased with it for just using a belt that I would have thrown away. It seems to retain the knife well, while simply pinching the sides releases it very nicely. I know some of you make some gorgeous leather pieces that require much more craftsmanship, so I am in no way saying that leatherwork is simple, even this was a struggle for a novice like me. I can now see how much talent is really required in quality leather work. I really admire some of the custom leather work I have seen from some of you on the forum and maybe soon I will be able to invest in something much better made from one of you. Just wanted to share with y'all and see what you think.
