I am trying to help out a fellow member with a knife purchase, but he is hesitant in sending money to a private party, & who can blame him I would too.
Other than asking you all here to vouge for my integrity, what is the best way to conduct this transaction? This would help myself as well, as in the future I plan on selling some of my personal collection & would like to have a way for the buyer to feel sucure in the sale, other than go through a 3rd party or such.
Thanks,

... I'm kinda confused... You are going to 'recommend' who he should buy from and he is hesitant about sending 'them' money or he is hesitant about buying from 'you'?

Either way, it is a leap of faith from my pov! I have done a lot of trades, purchases, and sales (or at least what I consider a lot) and have had no trouble with anything/anyone other than the Post Office losing some stuff. I would suggest setting down ground rules before selling/buying like an 'inspection' period along with the terms (price includes s/h or is extra) and decide how it will be done.... Keep copies of your email and agree to keep in touch with each other throughout the process to decrease stress mentioning pertinent things like 'vacations' or being 'away' from email for whatever reason. Probably sending money/knife at the same time is the best and easiest way. Most people here are protective enough about and value their reputation enough you can trust them BUT people do get burned! The Good Bad & Ugle Forum has a 'Good Guys' list which means someon has vouched for that person whether in a sale or purchase or trade so that is a good source of reference. Someone else has compiled a GREAT set of rules/guidelines for buying, selling and trading but I don't remember who posted it or where it is. You might consider buying a lower end knife just to 'feel' things out and if it causes TOO much worry and stress then probably going through a third party isn't so bad.....? I hope everything goes well for you!

(Just noticed your screen name there!) Some good points there! & to clear things up, he is hesitant in sending me the money.
Any more suggestions?

Paying by credit card gives a buyer a lot of protection. He can always contest the charge. But, of course, you probably don't care to get set up to accept credit cards. But, perhaps PayPal is an answer.
