Hello Buck Fans,

1. Anybody have a spare 110 spring that I could purchase? I have a old 560 that had a bg-42 blade put in by Buck, but the spring broke on me this summer.

2. Anybody know of a person that could put a pocket clip on a buck 112 for me? I'm hiking the AT next year and want a smaller buck than a 110 on the trail.

Thank you.

Buck will fix your broken srping. The 112 weighs about 1oz. more than the 560. You may as well carry the lighter knife. Either knife can can be rigged with a pocket clip.

Send it to Buck... I know of no easy way to put a new spring in without taking the blade out first. Then, the pin you press out to remove the blade might not be long enough too peen it back together nice and tight.

I agree to have Buck fix the spring.
I would be happy to add a pocket clip as a send off gift for your 2017 Appalachian Trail hike.
I'll most likely be hiking that Trail next year also.

I got all the stuff to drill and tap for the 2-56 screws and the clips from a knife supply.
You could do it yourself if you wanted to go that route. PM me for that company info if that's what you decide, or an address to send your 112 if you want me to do it.

Stumps, a generous offer.
Bob, you can make a spacer/ lockbar from 316 stainless bar stock 1/8" thick. You just need a file a vise and some sandpaper. Otherwise write Buck. DM

I think I would just send it to Buck and let them do a spa treatment on it while they have it.

I have hiked part of the AT like many Boy Scouts have. But, once a friend and I were going to hike the whole thing from Maine to Georgia back around 1978 or 1979. We plotted out the route. We wrote to companies like Browning and others to get sponsorship. We got our food and places to mail supplies. We were all ready to go. Then, he comes over a short time before we were to leave and informed me he joined the Navy and could not go. :( Oh well.

Hello Everyone,

Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you all, but we had visitors this weekend- no computer time.

Backstory on the 560- it was modified by a now retired "modder" from here on BF. He put in an adjustable pivot pin (blade can come out), pocket clip, and thumb studs. This 560 was very close to an ideal Mickey Finn phrobis knife 110 that we saw on this forum back in the day. That's why I need the spring; I don't think buck will touch a modded knife due to all the legal mumbo jumbo.

Stumps, thank you for the offer; I will email you to talk to you offline about the pocket clip for the 112. I feel the 112 will be a more appropriate length and less scary to certain sheeple that one might encounter on the trail. But, if I can get the 560 fixed and get it tweaked with no blade movement ( the bg-42 blades didn't like the 560 configuration) then I might take that lighter knife on the trail.

Thank you all for the replies.

I just want to say they you shouldn't worry about what people will think as hikers and campers often have hatchets/ axes and large knives / machetes .
Also if you want a buck with a pocket clip and thumb stud you could always just get a bucklite Max like the 482 for 20$ , it's not a 112 but is much lighter has a clip and stud, and the blade is gonna cut the exact same.
