Hi,

Could people who have them post pics of nice chute knives?

Thanks,

JD

Just what defines a "chute" knife? The first time I heard this term, I thought of working cattle on a farm, running them through the squeeze chute and doing veterinary stuff to them. I guess that is not the likely interpretation here!;) My guess is that it would be for cutting the lines on a parachute once you landed?
Just sittin' here all ignorant-like,
Mongo

OK, to revive this thread:

Those were the only ones I could find. Of course both SR Johnson and Loveless have made some amazing ones...

A hefty version by the late Robert Ogg, refinished by Max Burnett after several years of hard use.

I have absolutely no luck posting pictures, but here are a couple from the cabinet. One is a Loveless and it has a Double Edge Boot mate, consecutve shop numbers, Naked Ladies, very nice.

The second is a Herron, he apparently numbered his Chute knives differently, this is number 1. Awesome.

Hey Mike -- going to Tanner this weekend? I'll be there Saturday, and I'll have the Ogg with me. Stop by Lee Beene's table for a look-see.

Win, you're a tease. Take care of my knives for me:D

I may be wrong, if so please correct me, but I think a guy named harry Archer coined the term chute knife, and it was indeed made for paratroopers.

Win,

Wow - those are awesome. I'd love to see a high def of the Loveless.

Yeah, they were ment to be useable in case you would get caught in a tree or something. The double edge allows the chuter to reach behind and above his head to cut their way free.

I like the Chute Knife style as much as any other fighter style. I'm
working on an integral with a well known make, hope it comes to be.

Lifter, you know your knives are well cared for.;)

Joss, I'll shoot some better pictures over the weekend. Thanks for starting a post on one of my favorites.
