Does anyone have a picture showing the custom shop oak and heritage walnut handles side by side?

Thanks

Those look just a little darker than other pictures I have seen of those woods, so beware the colors vary some.

Yeah, I've always been interested in the KOA flamewood to, but I see such variation in pictures, it makes me leary of ordering one, some of it looks awesome, but sometimes it looks horrible.

Planning to order something very basic for EDC, but with s30v steel.

I'm with you Bear Claw, wanting to order one too, but like you said the KOA seems to be very spotty as to figure. Might just go with Ram, but it varies too.

Desotosky, I don't own any, but from what I have read those three are laminated.

Are the woods solid or laminate?

Hi DeSotoSky,

I have no idea if they are solid wood or laminate's, the photo above is from an old PBD post. As to the topic of variation in natural materials, there will always be variation no one can control that. However, when you place your order be specific about what you want your chosen material to look like and make sure it is put on your order. That way who ever builds the knife in the shop will know what you expect. It still may not get built that way as looks are subjective, if it comes to you and does not look like you wanted it to, call Buck and make sure you tell them it did not turn out like you expected it to and they will do all they can to make it right.

When I ordered my KOA from the CS I told them I wanted the wood to have lots of tiger striping and that is what I got. I have seen some other CS KOA knives here on the forum that looked like dirty old wood with no stirping at all. Remember communication is king and people are only human so mistakes can and will be made, when the mistakes happen communicate the issues clearly. Because if you don't no one will know but you! Also, call the CS and ask if these woods are laminates or not. The laminates are stronger than solid wood and more moisture resistant. Good luck
with your order.
