Tried to send this as an email , and it got bounced, so posting here:
Spark,
I'm writing to respectfully request that you hold off on deleting the old Himalayan Imports forum and archive materials for a week to let our resident geeks figure out how to save this material. There is no book or other reference which contains this information, and it would be a shame to lose it. I understand and support your need to speed up the site, but humbly suggest that a week's delay would not be unreasonable.

be able to delay the "pruning" for a week or so?

A couple of folks on the H.I. Forum are trying to save the historical data, which means so much to us, especially in light of the deaths of Rusty and Bill Martino.

One person tried, but can't access what he saved. Another has offered to write a program (!) to save it, but I think the time constraint is problematic.

Thank you for your consideration.

Spark,

Fully understand and appreciate your need to do maintenance, but the HI foum is much more than general internet chitchat. The very essence of Bill Martino is stored in there and can continue to spread his good works.

We support your need, but respectfully ask for more time to find a way to preserve the words, prayers and hopes of the Cantina.

Any technical support you could offer would also be appreciated...even a cd data dump in some accessible form...orjust time if that's all you can do so we can figure out what to do about it.

Unfortunately we don't have a CD dump capability. And with the persistance of the cantina to use the forum for chit chat, many of the hard data posts are intermixed and unidentifiable. So we have to seperate the wheat from the chaff.

I don't have a problem waiting for you all though.

Unfortunatly I have no idea what most of you guys are talking about but I do understand and appreciate : " I don't have a problem waiting for you all though"

Thanks Spark!

Spark,
Thank you very much. We will get this sorted out so that you can keep your site running smoothly.
