re: the Pen Knife:

Hi, Dan!

Hey, I dig the small karda with the Pen knife, but is seems to me it would be better served it it had some grip area on the spine, opposite the blade. These little grip lines will help the user get their thumb behind the blade for better leverage, and the small grooves will provide a secure grip. You probably have seen these 'grip grooves" on other knives, near the bolster.

Also, I was thinking on the Pen Knife itself, since I've had a few days to look it over. I think that the 12-point star would look good etched on one side as your original schematic shows, but the other side might look good with the crescent with the rising sun (also appears on the Nepali flag). Would you care for any other inscriptions? Name? Slogan? I could etch something cool onto the thick spine, and it would not hinder the drawing of the khuk or anything. It would be a simple geometric, those always look cool on a spine.

I don't know if I want to go carving the khuk's handlle, since it is now so smooth and polished. I'd hate to introduce a design that would hinder use. I was thinking of inserting brass pin designs on the hande, though. I think they'd really set the piece off. It is a little time consmuing, as I manufacture the pins myself.

Khuk scabbard: Some ideas for this: I coule emboss a design on the sheath, paint a design, or emboss & paint. I'll also round out the chape a bit. it is a bit sharp on the edges.

Lemme know what you think, Dan.

Thanks!

Keith

All excellent ideas!

How about "Pen Knife" or "Pendentive"?

That would be cool.

Keep us posted with pics and take whatever time you need. In the end, this should prove to be a good marketing piece for your handiwork (at least for the guys on the pass-around list). ;) There's nothing like seeing it in person...
