doing some reading through the camillus section and ive noticed that another forum member had one of these posted only it was Camco and PRC (china) mine is marked as below, except no # on the reverse tang
1) what was the number on this particular knife?
2) the package says stainless i know this is gonna sound crazy but it doesnt look like my other stainless knives:confused: yeah i'm fairly new:) What kinda steel
3) any idea what wood or laminate for the scales

Were buckmasters domestic and imported and were they intended as a budget lineup, couldnt find a whole lot of info on them. Would love to learn some more about them, this one definitely doesnt feel cheap!
thanks

I have saw the sharpfinger version, in the buckmaster version, made in China, and of course the 152gp, is USA made.
The China buckmaster versions I have saw, were stamped, or etched Camco, on the tang.
Not sure this helps any, someone else may have more info.

I am absolute novice but here's what I know about the Buckmasters line of knives. Last spring I ordered a two-knife set from SMKW which has a U.S. made Camillus "Gran'Pa ( GP152K) knife along with a Camco ( PRC-made) folder. On the back of the package is a list of the Buckmaster knives.
The list includes the models BM093C,BM903SC,BM908C,BM18C & BM85C.
The first two models are lockback knives with carry clips, the third knife is a lockback with a gut hook, the last two are fixed blades with gut hooks. I don't see a model number that corresponds to your knife.

I also ordered a Buckmaster fixed blade knife ( Model BM66) which is marked Camillus/Western/USA. The blade has a Buckmasters logo on the blade. The box has a picture of "Jackie Bushman, founder and CEO of Buckmasters,Ltd., The world's largest association of
deerhunters."
Except for the brush finished blade this knife is identical to my Western Model 66 from 1993. I don't think the U.S. made Camillus Buckmaster knives are of lesser quality than their regular production knives.

thanks for the info, much appreciated. Ive been bitten by the camillus bug and i get a kick outta researching, etc. and of course the treasure hunt:D
if i get a chance i'll photograph the package found it on amazon of all places by the looks of the knife it had been sitting collecting dust, etc for a while.
Looks like youve got some nice ones there, wish i would have got back into this before they closed last year:(
thanks again

My 2003 Camillus catalog shows the Buckmaster Pro Series line.

Large Deluxe Lockback.........................BM9
3 1/2" High Carbon Stainless Steel Blade
Hollow Ground Drop Point
Laminated Wood Handles

It doesn't say where it was made but your tang says U.S.A. Pattern wise it is a match for the regular Camillus CM9 Large Deluxe Lockback. Tere are ten knives illustrated as having the Buckmaster markings.

You can see the catalog yourself here.

I think a large organization like the Buckmasters are, has probably contracted to have their name and logo on several brands and pricepoints within those brands. Recently, I've seen Benchmade and Spyderco, as well has many, many Camillus knives.
