Hi fellas! My father recently gave me this knife that belonged to his uncle. I believe it's a Queen from the 30's or 40's but would love to get more precise information. So I am gratefully asking the knowledgable folks on this forum to help me identify when this knife was made and to add any other information you might have.

According to this chart, it would be 1945-1955.

eta: I just realized the stamp on your knife is sideways, so I'm not sure now.

Rachel, even with the sideways stamp I think your time frame is accurate. From 1954 through at least 1987 all bone and stag handled peanuts had stainless blades. If the OP is estimating that this knife is from the 30s or 40s I'd say it's a safe bet that it falls within the 47 through 53 range. Of course, this is all based on a best guess and we all know that plenty of anomalies exist in the knife world.

Anomalies abound, indeed. I've been searching the internet for tang stamp charts to load onto my phone for easy reference during flea market treasure hunts, but I can't vouch for their accuracy. In fact, I can't remember where I found them or who compiled them, so I try not to take them at face value. They can be a handy reference, though.

I have another one with slightly different dates:

I had one exactly like this I bought from a US dealer and he claimed it was around 1952, makes sense. Better looking than the CASE version in my view.

Nice knife although the scales on mine were mismatched, both were good though. I gave it away to a Peanut enthusiast who sadly no longer posts here.

Enjoy the family heirloom, justsomedude

He's still collecting since he's bought a few peanut pattern knives from me recently... actually I think he might now own every peanut that I've ever owned but that's not many--maybe 3. He's got a great collection of oldies as well as customs.
