Hello,

I am Japanese and still learning English, so please forgive any mistakes in my writing.

My uncle has owned these two knives for many years, and I’m wondering if anyone might know more details or the names of these knives.

I have attached photos for your reference.

Any information you could share would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

While I can not help you with information about the blades, your English is much better than my Japanese. Hopefully someone is able to give you the details you are seeking.

There are a few for sale at Arizona Custom Knives. You can use those prices as a reference.

Welcome to Blade Forums! Your first knife is the "MH" or "MH Field Knife" model. The second is the "BG" or "BG Fighter" model. Both are fairly early Striders from roughly the mid-2000s.

Thank you very much for your kind words!
I was born and raised in Japan, but even I sometimes struggle with Japanese — using hiragana, katakana, kanji, and a bit of English (or wasei-eigo). So I don’t always feel confident about my Japanese either, haha.
I really appreciate your encouragement, and I hope someone here can share helpful information about the blades.

Thanks again!

ブレードフォーラムへようこそ!最初のナイフは「MH」または「MHフィールドナイフ」モデルです。2つ目は「BG」または「BGファイター」モデルです。どちらも2000年代半ば頃の比較的初期のストライダーナイフです。

Thank you very much for your helpful information, Steve!
I appreciate you identifying the models as "MH Field Knife" and "BG Fighter" from the mid-2000s.

When I researched earlier, I read that early Strider models often lack steel markings and the characteristic Strider pattern.
Is my understanding correct that these features are typical of the initial models?

Thank you again for your time and help.

I'm glad to help, but I'm afraid I'm not a Strider expert like some here on these pages. Hopefully someone more knowledgable will add to the conversation. That said, what you've learned is generally correct. The earlier models had the simple tang stamps, the plain bead-blast finish (as opposed to the Tiger Stripe finish), and the parachute cord handle wraps. I say that it's "generally correct" that those features define early knives because there are no certainties when it comes to Strider. The company used a mix of stamps, features, and styles over many years, and it's almost impossible to date a non-specialty model to a single year of manufacture. The best you can hope for with most Strider knives is a date range or estimated period of manufacture.

Your uncle's knives are nice, however. They are not common models, and he obviously kept them in good shape.
